The Center for Reconstruction & Development is a major U.S. and international resource for facilitating the reconstruction and development of countries and regions devastated by disaster. Our efforts bring together U.S. government agencies, multilateral institutions, nonprofit and relief  organizations, U.S. and foreign companies, and diplomats from around the world.

Since 1996, more than 4,000 corporate, government, and diplomatic leaders have participated in Equity International's reconstruction conferences, which have included:

  • The first conference on the reconstruction of Iraq, held in Washington on May 5, 2003.

  • Additional conferences and briefings on rebuilding Iraq.

  • The first conference on the reconstruction of Afghanistan, convened in March of 2002.

  • Following the election of President Vojislav Kostunica, the first Yugoslavia reconstruction and development conference, held in November of 2000.

  • In the wake of deadly floods in Venezuela, the first Venezuelan reconstruction conference in March of 2000.

  • Responding to the devastating earthquakes in Turkey, a major Turkish reconstruction conference in January of 2000.

  • The first post-war reconstruction conference on Kosovo and the surrounding countries in June of 1999.

  • In the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch, the first reconstruction conference on Central America in December of 1998.

  • The first post-war reconstruction conference on Bosnia and Herzegovina, held in January of 1996.

The Center facilitates reconstruction and development by organizing international conferences and briefings, by identifying needs and opportunities, by explaining programs and funding, and by assisting companies and nonprofit organizations.

The Center is a division of Equity International, a top American international business development firm. Equity International is the leading provider of information on the reconstruction of Iraq and other countries.
